ALWAYS HAPPENS

Privacy notice

Always Happens operates this website and uses the information described in this notice to provide its services. For privacy questions or requests, use the contact form or email support@alwayshappens.com. Last updated October 19, 2026.

We process an account name, email, authentication records, saved birthdays/relationships, optional interests, gift messages and email preferences to provide the features you choose. Password handling is delegated to a maintained authentication library. We do not need a birth year for standard connections.

Optional recipient photos require your permission to use them. Order photos are private to your verified account, converted to JPEG with embedded metadata removed, and removed from the upload staging area after seven days or on account deletion. You can also remove an uploaded photo in the order form. Authorized fulfillment team members can access submitted order details and photos to prepare and review personalized videos. Finished media remains private to the team and (after approval) the buyer. Sandbox video tests expire after seven days; live purchased videos follow the explicit download/access duration disclosed at checkout and saved with each order.

PayPal sandbox checkout is for testing only and does not charge real money. When Live PayPal checkout is enabled, an actual purchase charges the amount displayed at checkout and creates a production video order. We store order details, amount, account association, payment environment, capture references and the chosen video access duration, and send a transactional confirmation. PayPal processes payments using separate sandbox or live credentials. We do not collect or save card numbers. For a repeat order, the verified owner may reuse recipient and occasion details from an earlier order; past photos and payment credentials are not reused. Every new order requires a new customer-approved checkout. Order records are included in account export and subject to account deletion, applicable financial recordkeeping obligations, payment-provider disputes and backup retention.

For approved personalized videos, the signed-in buyer may explicitly create an unlisted video link for someone else. The recipient can watch without a login. Anyone with the link may forward it; replacing or revoking the link stops further access. Share links are stored as cryptographic token hashes, and their availability ends no later than the purchased or test-video access deadline. A deliberately shared cover may contain the submitted photo and recipient name. Sharing is optional and off by default.

Friend comparisons use the entered birthday for the calculation without saving it to the invitation or sending it to the inviter. Published invitation and gift links are unlisted but forwardable: anyone with a viewing link can open it. They are excluded from search indexing, which is not a guarantee that a forwarded link remains private.

A shared date discovery contains the selected date, named public figures, and any person/occasion label you choose to include. A discovery is public to anyone with its unlisted /d/ link, even if shared by a signed-in account. For verified signed-in customers, newly shared discoveries are saved in their private Shared discoveries list so they can reopen, copy, or revoke a link. Guest-created links are not automatically linked to a later account; saving an existing public discovery after signing in creates an independent owned copy and does not change the original link. Removing an owned shared discovery disables its existing public link immediately. Your removed discovery remains recoverable for up to 30 days in Shared discoveries; restoring creates a new URL, never reactivates the old one. The account view hides expired entries when the deadline passes, and the scheduled worker deletes them from the live database shortly afterward. Existing backups may retain deleted data under the separately stated backup retention schedule. Account deletion removes your owned discovery records. Avoid sharing someone else's private information without their permission.

Necessary cookies maintain authentication and a stable discovery preview. Guest invitation management capabilities are saved in the creating browser. Draft preservation across registration uses session storage and can be cleared. No optional newsletter consent is inferred from registration or sharing.

Saved people and legacy free invitations can be managed in My network. Owned date discoveries and their 30-day recovery area are managed in Shared discoveries. Account settings retains email preferences, data export and account deletion. Active account and gift data is retained until deletion. Application backups can retain deleted information for up to 30 days. Contact-form inbox records in the application are removed after 30 days by the scheduled worker. Email delivery records may remain while delivery issues are resolved; delivered support emails and replies are separate correspondence.

The website and database run on a Hostinger server. Resend handles service emails and optional emails you choose to receive. These providers process information needed to host the service and deliver messages. We do not sell your personal information. Website advertising and third-party website analytics are not enabled for this initial release.

Account verification and password-reset emails support your account. Birthday gift suggestions, quarterly inspiration, and annual reminders about a previously purchased personalized video require the relevant opt-in. Video reminders are scheduled three months, one month and two weeks ahead of the next yearly occasion, and stop once a matching replacement order is paid. You can change these choices in Account settings or unsubscribe from optional emails at any time; unsubscribing does not stop essential account emails. We do not automatically renew or charge for another video.

When you submit the contact form, we store your reply address and message and queue a copy to the Always Happens support inbox. If you select Email me a copy, we also queue a copy to the address you enter. This does not subscribe you to optional emails. Only provide information needed to answer your question. Support correspondence is used to respond, handle corrections and resolve requests; account deletion does not erase email copies already delivered to other recipients or correspondence kept to handle an ongoing request.
